In Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, the Governorship and House of Assembly elections have been slated to hold in few hours time with the Independent National Electoral Commisssion expected to be an unbiased umpire in the contest.
Some residents mostly from the south- south states speak about their expectations over the elections.
* My state is Akwa Ibom state. Unfortunately, Akwa Ibom state was named as one of the flash points by the security agencies owing to activities of hoodlums. Hence, my expectation is that we have a free and fair elections and that all the actors should please allow the officers of INEC do their work and not be intimidated.
Soldiers should only protect electorate and should not scare them. Eligible voters should go out and vote candidates of their choice. God bless our state.
- Mr.Emmanuel Odiong, Akwa Ibom state.
*I look forward to an Election where election materials will arrive early, electorate will not be threatened to vote a particular party, card reader will be used and able to work fine without complain and election results will be collated and well announced at the collation centre without the use of thugs or armed men to distract or disorganise tomorrow's election. Also, I look forward to seeing a free, fair poll tomorrow without rigging.
- Ngozi Nwachukwu a.k.a Miss Amebo, Abia state.
* I just want our leaders to conduct a free and fair election without anyone losing his or her life.
- Melvet Nku, Cross River state.
* I expect an improvement from what was obtained during the Presidential and National Assembly elections. I hope INEC is better prepared and has learnt lessons from the previous exercise in readiness to conduct a credible and acceptable election tomorrow. I pray for a peaceful atmosphere all through...
- Tony Esin, Akwa Ibom state.
* The elections will be free and fair. I trust peace loving people of Cross River state and urge them to maintain the peace they are always known for. I also my candidate will win again.
- Juliet Asaba, Cross River state.
* In the Federal Capital Territory, governorship elections will not be held here. Rather, Area council and councillorship elections shall hold in the different area councils.
My area council is AMAC and my expectation is simple. It shall be peaceful. The candidates have shown maturity but, as usual, rigging will be present.
- Chike Anierobi, F.C.T, Abuja.
* Well my candidate all the way, for the governorship election because there is this famous saying that the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know
- Moses Ede, Cross River state.
* I expect a very interesting contest mingled with pockets of violence but in the end it would be the ruling party all the way in Akwa Ibom State. We are ready to support a man who knows how to sustain peace, seek and pursue it.
- Bassey James, Akwa Ibom state.
* I believe very well that the elections will go on well. As for my home state I see the ruling party having a landslide victory.
- Terem Agida, Cross River state.
* It will take a miracle for the opposition to make any meaningful impact in tomorrow's elections. To come from winning just one NASS seat in Cross River state is definitely not enough to make a statement in the contest. Victory for the ruling party in the election is a sure bet. Though winning governorship election in Cross River State is a major prayer point of the opposition but the prayer might not be answered before the elections are concluded tomorrow.
- Tony Darlington Ugbe, Cross River state.
* Almost everyone has a candidate(s) to support tomorrow and they expect their candidate(s) to win. I have mine and foresee victory for them.
- Blessing Umoetuk, Akwa Ibom state.
* I foresee victory for the ruling party in Cross River with 5 LGAs' as a determinant. 2 in the South, 2 in the Central and 1 in the North but the 2 in the central will be a battle ground.
Other States are, Kaduna, Adamawa, Zamfara, Yobe, Gombe, possibly, Nasarawa may be won by the PDP. I also tip Lagos state for the PDP. The remaining north central States go to the PDP apart from Niger State for the APC. South East all PDP S/S PDP...... South west 2 States apart from Lagos state.
- Agi Omaga, Cross River state.
* I see the ruling party winning in Cross River State.
- Kingsley Opute, Cross River state.
* There will be no governorship election tomorrow in Edo state but House of Assembly elections and everyone will come out to make their choice. Hopefully, it's going to be more peaceful than ever without rigging. Amen.
- Tracy Omondiagbe, Edo state.
* In Lagos state, the unthinkable may happen in the election because Lagosians are set to break the yoke of political godfatherism in the State.
- Jeremiah U, Lagos state.
* Akwa Ibom people are wiser. We know what is good for us. We will vote for the candidate and the party of our choice.
- Ekemini Etim, Akwa Ibom state.
* I wish them the best.
- Shantel Joe, Lagos state.
