A 100-level Student of the Kogi State University, Ayingba, Miss Rebecca Michael on Wednesday reportedly committed suicide shortly after her boyfriend broke up with her.

DAILY POST gathered that the girl recently gained admission into the department of Philosophy in the institution.

The deceased, who took her life in their 200 housing unit residence in Lokoja, according to sources, was within the age of 20.

It was reported that, the deceased drank sniper when her boy friend, who is a prominent DJ in Lokoja told her that he was no longer interested in the relationship.

After drinking the poisonous substance, she was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre were she gave up the ghost.

She was later buried on Wednesday at Lokongoma cemetery, Lokoja Kogi State.

When Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) William Aya told DAILY POST that he was yet to get any report concerning the incident.

The PPRO promised to get back to our reporter when he get information from C Division office of the Nigeria Police Force Lokoja.

FCT Administration Demolishes Structures within DAAR COMMUNICATION Premises

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has demolished "solid structures" within the premises of DAAR Communications in FCT, Abuja.

DAAR COMMUNICATIONS are owners and operators of Africa Independent Television, Ray Power FM and Faaji Fm.

The demolition exercise is coming weeks after the founder and chieftain of opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Chief. Dokpesi was quizzed by the officials of the Nigeria Immigration.

World’s largest plane makes first flight

The world’s largest aircraft, a carbon-composite plane, took its first flight on Saturday from California, U.S., over the Mojave Desert in California.
The carbon-composite plane was by Stratolaunch Systems Corp, a company started by late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, as the company enters the lucrative private space market.
The white aeroplane, called Roc, nicknamed after a giant mythical bird, has a wingspan the length of an American football field and is powered by six engines on a twin-fuselage. It took to the air shortly before 7 a.m. Pacific time (1400 GMT).
It stayed aloft for more than two hours before landing safely back at the Mojave Air and Space Port as a crowd of hundreds of people cheered.
“What a fantastic first flight.
“Today’s flight furthers our mission to provide a flexible alternative to ground-launched systems.
“We are incredibly proud of the Stratolaunch team, today’s flight crew, our partners at Northrup Grumman’s Scaled Composites and the Mojave Air and Space Port, ” Jean Floyd, Stratolaunch’s CEO, said in a statement on the company’s website.
The plane is designed to drop rockets and other space vehicles weighing up to 500,000 pounds at an altitude of 35,000 feet.
It has been billed by the company as making satellite deployment as “easy as booking an airline flight.”
Saturday’s flight, which saw the plane reach a maximum speed of 189 miles per hour and altitudes of 17,000 feet, was meant to test its performance and handling qualities, according to Stratolaunch.
Mr Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975, announced in 2011 that he had formed the privately funded Stratolaunch.
Mr Allen died in October 2018 while suffering from non-Hodgkins’ lymphoma, just months after the plane’s development was unveiled.

days in kind memory of countrymen, women and
children who were killed twenty-five years ago,
precisely, in 1994.

Each time I read about it, I get scared of man. Over
800,000 people were killed. What a pogrom! According
to historical sources, most of those who died were minority
Tutsis and moderate Hutus, killed by Hutu extremists.

The remembrance flame is up and will so be for 100 days
in memory of the deceased. May their souls continue to rest
in peace. Amen.

To the widows, orphans and all those who are alive to bear the losses,
May they find comfort in this memorial in honour of their departed loved
ones.

Kolade Johnson's death: Is the police still your friend?

We kill those who should live and keep those who deserve to die. This aptly describes the character of the police. Where is the sanctity of human life? Life is sacred. Everyone has the right to life and should live.

The Holy Bible condemns the killing of man by man. The holy
Koran dissaudes the shedding of innocent blood. The traditional
rites of every custom and tradition in Africa forbids the killing of
humans for no justifiable reason. The catechism of the Holy Roman Catholic Church teaches that life is a gift from GOD and should be preserved. The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria advocates the right of every citizen to life. The Force Order 237 on the use of firearms rebukes the abuse of firearms especially, on harmless citizens. On what premise or ground therefore, do the police & some members of the armed forces spill innocent blood? This has been on for too long. The last time I heard an order to perish lives without recourse to the law by the armed forces came from the Commander-in-chief of the Armed forces himself but that was if ballot box snatching was exercised.

Did Kolade Johnson snatch any ballot box? Methinks, the elections were over.

The unjustly, unlawful, unauthorised and unnecessary killings of innocent citizens by those whose job it is to preserve and protect lives have reached an alarming rate.

Where is the decency, decorum, dignity & discipline in the armed forces?

It is not enough for the Lagos state Police Command to identify the killers of Kolade Johnson. It is not enough to dismiss them from service. But they should be prosecuted according to the dictates of the law in this regard.

The President condolences to the bereaved family for me, signifies 'crocodile tears.' Why cry over split milk? All Nigerians need at this time is justice. Justice must be served and so seen to have been served. Again, words must be matched with actions.

The bad eggs in the police force should be separated from the good ones. Those who have been found guilty of extra-judicial killings should be made scape goats to serve as deterrents to others.

The rate of extra-judicial killings in our country by men of the armed forces particularly more by the police, has assumed not only an alarming but unprecedented rate. Are we a nation at war?

Look at Kolade! Rushed to the grave at only 36; still at the morning of life.

With the killing of the young man for no wrong, offensive or criminal course, can one still call the police a friend?

Enough of the cliche: "...will be brought to book" All we are saying: Let justice be done. Let Justice prevail.
